Intiva Health CEO to Speak During SXSW on Blockchain and DApps in Healthcare

Panel set to explore practical applications of Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) and the companies behind it

AUSTIN, TEXAS—February 26, 2019—Intiva Health—a company known for being the first distributed career and credentialing platform for health professionals—announced today that its CEO John Hartigan will participate in a panel discussion on blockchain technology during South by Southwest (SXSW) Interactive Festival on March 12, 2019. Hartigan will be joined by blockchain entrepreneurs Amit Malhotra, Aman Quadri, Jay Williams, and David Metcalfe as moderator.

“I’m thrilled to be among a panel of visionary entrepreneurs who are also developing practical applications to improve today’s healthcare system,” Hartigan said.

The panel—titled “Beyond the Hype: Practical Use Cases in Healthcare”—will focus on real-world uses of DLT, a decentralized database that validates transactions and secures networks by enabling many sources to contribute their resources (instead of a single third party). Companies prefer DLT because it protects their data from hackers by keeping a log of records and using time stamps.

According to Hartigan, DLT is exactly what the “antiquated, inefficient” healthcare system needs.

“This technology has the potential to build an instant digital notarization that can be universally accepted across all healthcare systems,” Hartigan said. “That alone will radically change the way data is shared and verified, leading to a more efficient future for healthcare.”

The panel will be hosted by the Health Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Austin chapter. It’s set to take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in room 2.120 of the Thompson Conference Center at the University of Texas at Austin.
